The Indian Air Force's unmanned aerial vehicle crashed on Thursday night in Khajuwala village, some 60 kilometres east of the Pakistan border.

Yesteday, a Pakistani air force Mirage fighter jet crashed over the Arabian sea near Karachi. Military officials said rescue parties had been unable to find the wreckage or the pilot.

An estimated one million troops are massed on both sides of the border stretching from the disputed region of Kashmir to the Arabian Sea in a crisis sparked by last month's attack on India's parliament - blamed on Pakistan-based Islamic militants.

There were no casualties reported on the ground, a district administrative official told Reuters.

India on Friday tested a shorter variant of its nuclear capable Agni missile off the country's eastern seaboard. Pakistan said the missile test threatened regional stability, but added it had the means to defend itself.
