Industrial disputes cost Irish businesses 2,398 days between July and September 2005, new data from the Central Statistics Office has revealed.
This compares to 3,074 days lost in the same period last year.
During the first nine months of the year, there were 10 disputes taking place in Ireland, adding up to 4,077 lost days. The Electricity, gas and water supply sector accounted for the majority of the days lost in this period, at 52 per cent. Construction accounted for 22 per cent.
