The volume of industrial production for manufacturing industries has fallen nearly 2 per cent for the three month period from August to October 2005, according to the Central Statistics Office.
The seasonally adjusted figures, released this morning, showed production was down 1.9 per cent on the preceding three-month period.
Year-on-year, however production for All Industries in October was 0.4 per cent higher than in the same period last year.
The "Modern Sector", which is made up of a number of high-technology and chemical sectors, showed an annual increase in production for October 2005 of 0.7 per cent, while a decrease of 0.2 per cent was recorded in the "Traditional" sector.
The seasonally adjusted industrial turnover for manufacturing industries was 1.3 per cent lower in the three-month period August to October when compared with the preceding three-month period.
On an annual basis, turnover in October was 1.8 per cent lower than in October 2004.
