A court injunction was served on a Co Clare man who last week avoided jail only after material was removed from a controversial website inviting people to rate their lawyer.

At Ennis Circuit Court yesterday, Judge Harvey Kenny imposed an injunction on John Gill of Drumline, Newmarket-on-Fergus, from engaging in further acts of trespass on lands at Bunratty, Co Clare.

Last Thursday in the High Court Mr Gill avoided jail after material relating to Dublin-based barrister Jayne Maguire was removed from the website www.ratemysolicitor.com.

In court yesterday Mr Gill was representing himself as he had no solicitor, and Judge Kenny asked him: "Have you ever had a solicitor?"

Mr Gill replied: "With all due respects, I have had 51 solicitors."

Judge Kenny said: "You would be well advised getting yourself a solicitor rather than doing it yourself."

In response Mr Gill said: "Another judge told me, 'I want to ask you to get a solicitor, but I know it is not possible.' "

Yesterday's proceedings were brought by the owners of the land at Bunratty, John O'Doherty of Windy Gap, Meelick, and Summerland Properties Ltd, Central Buildings, O'Connell Street, Limerick, in relation to Mr Gill continuing to trespass on the land in spite of warnings to him to cease.

In a previous Circuit Court action, Mr Gill's claim on the lands was dismissed by Judge Carroll Moran.

The order was affirmed in the High Court last March by Mr Justice Brian McCracken.
