A firm of Dublin solicitors has been granted liberty by the High Court to apply for an interlocutory injunction seeking to restrain a Romanian baroness from dissipating her assets in Ireland. Mr Justice Quirke refused to grant Denis Murnaghan and Co, solicitors, an interim injunction freezing money and property owned here by Ms Monica Bradley, described yesterday in court as a Romanian baroness. Mr Rory MacCabe, counsel for Murnaghans, said his clients were owed about £100,000 in legal fees for work they had carried out for Ms Bradley whose whereabouts were now unknown to them.
Mr MacCabe handed in to court a report in a Sunday newspaper which said that an international arrest warrant had been issued for Ms Bradley. He said she owned a property within the jurisdiction on foot of which ACC Bank held a security of about £600,000.
Mr Justice Quirke said he would not grant an ex-parte injunction in the absence of stronger evidence of an intention to avoid liability. He granted Murnaghans liberty to seek an interlocutory injunction early in the new law term.
