THE owner of a Co Dublin business park was granted a High Court order yesterday preventing travellers from trespassing on the site.

Mr Dan Boland, counsel for Swords Business Park Ltd, told Mr Justice Shanley that a number of travellers with caravans were on lands at Greenfields, Swords, owned by Swords Business Park Ltd. The injunction is until next Monday, when the case comes up again.

Mr Thomas Neasy, architect, said in an affidavit that the company had obtained planning permission for the development of a business park on the lands.

Mr Neasy, a director of the company, said that it had entered into a contract with Moyland Enterprises. Other occupiers of the park had contracts with construction companies to carry out development work.

On May 31st, a number of travellers had moved a caravan on to the lands. Solicitors for the company contacted gardai, but were told they would be unable to act as the matter was a civil one. On June 11th, a second family brought a second caravan on to the lands.

Mr Neasy said that extensive civil engineering works were being carried out. These involved the use of excavators and other heavy machinery.

The company had made a substantial investment in acquiring the lands and developing the site. Persons now trespassing had caused damage to the grass verges and were littering the lands. Further damage was likely if they remained there.
