Cork defender Sean Og O’hAilpin will miss the entire hurling championship season as a result of the knee injury he sustained when a car he was driving was involved in a head on collision with another vehicle in Nenagh on Thursday night.

It was thought originally that the 1999 All-Ireland winner would only miss tomorrow's Munster hurling semi-final clash against Limerick at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

No immediate decision was to be made on O'hAilpin's availability for the Munster semi-final against Waterford on June 10th if Cork were to beat Limerick tomorrow.

Speaking on RTE Radio this afternoon Cork selector Ted Owens confirmed that O’hAilpin had badly injured his patellar tendon.

Cork manager Tom Cashman has major defensive worries ahead of tomorrow's game with O'hAilpin joining fellow 1999 All-Ireland winners Brian Corcoran and Fergal McCormack on the injury list.

Cashman is likely to select Sarsfields Pat Ryan as cover for O’hAilpin.
