A woman who rejected the advice of her doctor to have physiotherapy had her award for personal injuries cut by 25 per cent in the Circuit Civil Court yesterday.

Judge James Carroll said a number of boxes of chocolate fell on Ms Ann O'Flanagan, of Blackditch Road, Ballyfermot, Dublin, and undoubtedly injured her, but she had made an irrational decision not to follow medical advice.

Ms O'Flanagan was injured in Crazy Prices, Ballyfermot, in 1994.

Judge Carroll said he would award £8,000 damages against Crazy Prices and merchandisers Praline Ltd, but reduced the decree to £6,000.
