A STABBING victim whose body was discovered in the corridor of a Dublin apartment was so badly mutilated he had to be identified by his dental records, an inquest has heard.

Michael Hughes (30) was discovered in the corridor of Manor Villas, Mount Argus, Harold's Cross, on December 15th, 2007, following a night out in town.

A manager with Bus Éireann, who was engaged to be married and who was building a house in Offaly, Mr Hughes was staying with his cousin at Manor Villas, Insp Gearóid Begley told an inquest at Dublin City Coroner's Court. It is believed he was unable to get into his cousin's apartment and had fallen asleep in the corridor when the incident occurred.

Mr Hughes died of multiple stab wounds. Insp Begley applied for an adjournment of the inquest as criminal proceedings had begun.
