The inquest into the Tallaght grandmother who was shot dead in her home last Easter has been adjourned indefinitely at Dublin County Coroner's Court.

Joan Casey (65), of Avonbeg Park in Tallaght, was shot dead at her home on the third of April.

Inspector Gerard Carroll told the Coroner, Dr Kieran Geraghty, he was applying for an indefinite adjournment under the Coroners Act.

Dr Geraghty gave the cause of death as a shotgun round to the chest with haemorrhaging to the left lung and heart.

Adjourning the inquest indefinitely, Dr Geraghty expressed his sympathy to the deceased's family.
