An inquest into the death of Donna Cleary (22), a mother of one who was killed when shots were fired into a house in north Dublin where she was attending a birthday party, has been adjourned for five months.
Insp Ray Kavanagh sought the adjournment at Dublin City Coroner's Court yesterday as a file in relation to her death is with the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Ms Cleary was killed in the early hours of Sunday, March 5th, when a gunman opened fire just after 2.30am at a house on Adare Green, Coolock, where she was attending a 40th birthday party.
Up to 50 guests had returned to the house at Adare Green to continue an earlier party which had taken place at Innish Fáils GAA club, Dublin.
A group of up to four men called and tried to gain entry to the house party at about 2am. They were refused but warned that they would return.
The men left, got a gun and returned to Adare Green. One of the men fired five or six shots from a pistol into the downstairs of the house.
Coroner Dr Brian Farrell adjourned the inquest until April 23rd saying: "A file in relation to Donna's death is with the DPP. It will take a little while until the DPP's decision."
