Inquest on murdered woman is adjourned

CRIMINAL charges may be brought in the murder of Mrs Patricia Murphy, Dublin City Coroner's Court was told yesterday. The body of Mrs Murphy (37) was found beside a rubbish skip near her home in Griffith Avenue, Dublin, almost a year ago.

Det Garda Pat Roche of Santry Garda station sought a further adjournment in the inquest into the woman's death as criminal proceedings were still being considered. The inquest had been opened on October 23rd last year.

City Coroner Dr Brian Farrell agreed to adjourn the inquest until September 18th. The deceased woman's husband, Mr David Murphy, from Phibsboro, attended the hearing yesterday, accompanied by his father.

Mrs Murphy had left Lismore House bed and breakfast in Upper Drumcondra Road, where she worked part time and had served breakfast to the guests, at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday 27th, 1996. She was seen later walking along Griffith Avenue. Her half naked body was found the next day.

From Kilrush, Co Clare, she had four children, Jamie (9), Aaron "(6) David (3) and a baby, Amy. A Garda file on her murder was sent recently to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
