The Gardaí and the Health Service Executive have begun separate investigations into the death of a woman who was hit by an ambulance in Dundalk last weekend.
Gloria Corrigan (27) of Oriel Park Emyvale, Co Monaghan, was hit by the ambulance at Carrickastuck, Hackballscross at around 4.30am on Sunday morning.
Ms Corrigan had been travelling on the N3 Dundalk to Castleblayney road when she came across the scene of a car crash. She left her car to help the victims when she was struck by an ambulance on the way to the scene.
She was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where she died yesterday.

A man in his 60s was also injured in the incident, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
