London - Britain's Deputy Prime Minister, Mr John Prescott, yesterday announced a possible a new inquiry into the sinking of the Thames pleasure boat The Marchioness 10 years ago, in which 51 people died.
Mr Prescott said a review - which will be conducted by a senior judge - of whether there should be a new inquiry was part of a drive to improve safety standards on the Thames. An Irish woman, Mrs Carmello Gorman, was one of the people who died in the disaster.
