Gardai in west Dublin are seeking to question a number of men in connection with an incident in the early hours of yesterday morning in which a man was knocked down and killed following a fracas.

Mr Myles Malone (32), of Foxboro Village, Clondalkin, died in Tallaght Hospital from injuries believed to have been sustained after he was run over by a white van. The incident happened at the junction of Fonthill Road and Nangor Road at about 1 a.m.

Gardai were investigating reports that the dead man may have been involved in a fight shortly before receiving his fatal injuries. One man from the area was arrested and questioned and it is understood gardai were seeking to talk to two other men.

Meanwhile, gardai in north Dublin were yesterday called to investigate the death of a 78-year-old man at his home on Shantallow Road, Santry. However, a preliminary post-mortem showed the man may have died from self-inflicted injuries.
