Gardaí have named the pedestrian who died following a collision at Bunree Road, Ballina, Co Mayo, on Christmas Eve as Emily Gilmartin, Greenhills Estate, Ballina. They are appealing for witnesses.
In Ederney, Co Fermanagh, a man was killed early on Christmas morning when a car in which six people were travelling hit a tree just after 12.30am on the Castlederg Road outside the village.
The 36-year-old victim was a front-seat passenger in the car. Four women, two of them teenage girls, and a second man, the driver, were also in the car.
Poles delayed by fog fly out
A group of Polish nationals flew home from Dublin airport on Christmas Eve after the flight on which they were scheduled to travel last Friday was cancelled due to fog in Warsaw. A Dublin Airport Authority spokeswoman confirmed the 55 passengers flew out on Saturday.
Woman dies in Howth harbour
Gardaí have confirmed they are not looking for anybody else in connection with the death of a woman whose car entered the water at Howth harbour, Dublin, on Christmas Eve at 8.45pm.
