Inter president confirms summer move for Giggs

Inter Milan will attempt to lure Ryan Giggs from Old Trafford this summer.

Inter Milan will attempt to lure Ryan Giggs from Old Trafford this summer.

The president of the Italian giants, Massimo Moratti, has confirmed Inter's interest in the 29-year-old Welsh winger.

"Every year there's talk of us getting Giggs and although I think Manchester United are still keen on him, I believe an offer will be considered," Moratti told the Sunday Mirror.

"The fact is we like him and we will be making an offer in the summer. He is the type of player the fans will love here. We are confident that if a deal can be done, we will do it."

The Italian press have repeatedly linked the United left winger with a move to the San Siro in the past few months, and speculation increased when Giggs became a target for supporters' criticism recently.

Giggs is rated in the £20million bracket, however, and under the current financial climate it seems any move for the player would be an ambitious one for Inter.

Italian clubs are currently being forced to tighten their purse-strings, with a recent survey by the Il Sole 24 Orenewspaper putting the combined operating losses of Serie A clubs last season at €948million.

According to the survey, Inter were responsible for almost a tenth of that total, with their losses quoted at €94.6m.
