The former chief executive of the Courts Service, PJ Fitzpatrick has been appointed Financial Services Ombudsman for an interim period.
The announcement was made by the Financial Ombudsman Council this morning.
The appointment comes after Joe Meade retired at the weekend.
A permanent Ombudsman is expected to be appointed shortly with interviews for the position due to take place later this month.
Mr Meade became Financial Services Ombudsman in 2005.
