Chicago - People who find partners through the Internet may face a greater risk of AIDS and other sexually-transmitted diseases than those who find partners elsewhere, according to a US study released yesterday.
Sexual contact arranged via the Internet more frequently involved people with a history of sexually-transmitted diseases and multiple sexual partners and those who were positive for HIV, the virus which causes AIDS, the report said.
The online group was more likely to be male and homosexual, said the study published in this week's Journal of the American Medical Association.
