Interim Iraqi foreign minister Mr Humam Abdul Khalek said Iraq is willing to take the action jointly with Iran "and all those who decide to do the same" and without waiting for unanimity among Muslim producers.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mr Kamal Kharazi says Tehran would also "consider" using oil as a weapon.
