Cricket:Ireland cruised to an innings-and-84-run win over the Netherlands in the ICC Inter-Continental Cup in Dublin earlier today.
The visitors were bowled out for 136 in their second innings on the third day of a scheduled four at Observatory Lane as they failed to even make their hosts bat for a second time.
The Dutch resumed on 71 for four after veteran Trent Johnston made early inroads last night. The seamer was wicketless today, finishing with three for 41, but Allan Eastwood and Albert van der Merwe took centre stage as the innings was wrapped up in exactly 40 overs.
Dubliner Eastwood, who had shared the new ball with Johnston, ran through the frontline batsmen as he ripped out Nick Statham (26), Tom Heggelman (16) and Peter Borren (37) in a fiery spell.
And spinner Van der Merwe shot out the tail, capturing Pieter Seelaar, Mark Jonkman and Bernard Loots in a superb spell of 8-3-15-3. Ireland finished with 20 points, with Holland failing to register any.
