Brian O'Driscoll is confident Ireland can defeat France and deprive them of a Six Nations grand slam on Saturday.

"We can win in Paris because we have nothing to lose, we have the means to do it and we have done it in the past," the Leinster centre told the sports daily L'Equipetoday.

"France are very strong, they have improved a lot but I'm sure Ireland also are a better team than two years ago."

O'Driscoll scored three tries and led Ireland to a 27-25 win over France in Paris in March 2000.

"It was a fantastic day for me and for our team but I don't want to think too much about it," he said.

Ireland also defeated France 22-15 last year at Lansdowne Road, but the 23-year-old admitted that "victory is not a divine right".

He added: "Saturday's game could be won or lost on details. Every player will have to have perfect concentration. If such is the case, we can win.

"When rugby union is played at this level, consistency is the key and we haven't shown the consistency that was expected of us this season."
