Ireland gained revenge for their 2-1 defeat to Belgium yesterday by winning the second and final Test friendly in Barcelona this afternoon.

John Clarke's senior men's hockey squad flew out to Spain on Monday for a six-day training camp ahead of the European Nations Cup which also takes place in Barcelona from September 1st-13th.

Instonians' Mark Irwin scored the only goal of the game at Club de Polo in the 64th minute after Lisnagarvey's Mark Raphael made a strong run to set up the goal-scoring opportunity.

Having drawn the series with Belgium, Ireland now have two challenge matches against Spanish club side Club de Polo (6th and 9th), with another game arranged with Egarra on Saturday.
