Cricket:Ireland's cricketers overcame recent disappointments to reach the final of the Inter-continental Cup in Abu Dhabi after thrashing the UAE by an innings and 170 runs.

Ireland had put together a first innings total of 531-5 declared; the UAE then followed but only posted 243.  Eoin Morgan hit the highest individual score in Irish cricket history with a an unbeaten 209. It was also Ireland's highest total in their 152 years of competition.

Victory in the three-day game came today after Ireland bowled out the UAE for 118. Boyd Rankin took four for fifty-six and Trent Johnson posted figures of three for eight.

Ireland will now meet Canada in the final of the competition in May. A venue has yet to be announced.
