Soccer:The Republic of Ireland are to play Norway in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium on November 17th. Giovanni Trapattoni's side will be four games into the qualifying campaign for Euro 2012.

The sides last met in a friendly in Oslo in August 2008 when skipper Robbie Keane scored in a 1-1 draw.

Erroneous reports had claimed England would provide the high-profile opposition in November with the FAI understood to have broached the subject with the English FA. Instead, Norway, ranked 22nd in the world, will visit Dublin 4.

The first soccer match at the newly-refurbished Lansdowne Road will see Manchester United take on an Airtricity League XI on August 4th before Argentina play Ireland a week later.
