An Post has moved to assure thousands of its banking customers that their money is safe after a glitch in its app meant that balances were displayed as zero over the weekend.

The company has stressed that while the display is giving zero balances in error, money is still in accounts and all point of sale transactions will be conducted as normal.

The postal service offers a number of financial services products through its An Post Money arm, including credit cards, loans and current accounts, as well as being the agent for State Savings.

“The An Post Money team is working on an issue with the front display page on the app but all customer funds are there,” a spokeswoman told The Irish Times.

She said that balances are correct when customers move away from the opening page of the app.

The spokeswoman concluded by apologising to impacted customers and said the operation was working to address the issue on Sunday afternoon.
