Appeal for return of Dublin footballer’s stolen All Ireland medal

A Dublin football club has issued public appeal for an All Ireland senior football medal stolen from one of its members.

The All Ireland medal was won by full-back Dermot Deasy (51) in 1995 when Dublin beat Tyrone.

Deasy’s club, Ballymun Kickhams made the appeal after the medal was taken from Deasy’s home on Friday night or Saturday morning.

Writing on its Facebook page, Ballymun Kickhams GAA club said: "Dreadful sign of the times that we have to ask the public's help in trying to find the All Ireland medal belonging to Dermot Deasy, that was stolen from his home last night. Any help would be gratefully received in helping recover this priceless medal''.

Deasy was part of the Dublin panel that defeated Tyrone in the decider, but did not feature on the day because of injury.

The Ballymun man won an All Star at full back in 1993 and won county honours with his club in 1982 and 1985.
