Burst water mains causes flooding in parts of Limerick city

Parts of the city will be without water until at least 1pm

Parts of Limerick city are without water this morning after a water mains burst.

Homes in Limerick have been hit by major flooding this morning after a water mains pipe burst.

The pipe ruptured shortly before 5am at Brookville Avenue close in Caherdavin.

The water, which is several feet deep in places, has entered the driveways of some homes.

Limerick City and County Council is working to fix the pipe and clear the water.

According to the local authority, the following areas will be without water until approx 1pm: Caherdavin, Brookville Avenue, Woodview Park, Cratloe Road, Brookville Gardens and Limerick Institute of Technology.

Motorists have been asked to exercise extreme caution in the area.
