A 13-year-old boy who was injured when his bicycle collided with a car in Co Louth on Saturday has died from his injuries.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them after the boy's death at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda on Tuesday night.

The incident happened on Saturday at about 8.30pm on the Slane Road near Drogheda.

The driver of the car was uninjured. The scene of the collision had been closed off for forensic investigation but has since reopened.
