A Donegal teenager has died in hospital in London two weeks after he was injured in a car crash.

Conor Boyle (18) from the gaeltacht village of Loughanure was left in a critical condition after his car struck a tree while he was making his way home from work in the early hours of Saturday September 8th.

He was rushed to hospital in Peterborough before being transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where he died today.

Mr Boyle, who completed his Leaving certificate in June, had been working for his father’s tunnelling company for the summer.

He had planned to work in England for a year before returning to Ireland next year to go to university.

He is survived by his mother Sheila, father Hugh and his five brothers .

His brother James left a touching message on his Facebook page.

“Today has to be the worst day of my life, my best friend and little brother Conor Boyle passed away. Probably the nicest and most energetic guy you would ever meet, he didn’t deserve this at all. I’d like to thank everyone in the last couple of weeks for their support its been great. Peace out hombre I’ll miss you so much.”

Members of Naomh Muire GAA Club also posted a message of condolence on their Facebook page.

“Words can’t describe how we feel this morning in the club. The news we prayed and hoped would never come has hit us and its a terrible feeling to lose one of our... own so young.

“To Sheila,Hugh and the boys and extended family we extend our deepest sympathy.

“RIP Wee Conor Boyle you were one of our own and you will be deeply missed but will be remembered always by us.”

His body will be brought home to Donegal for burial next week.
