Elderly woman dies after collision between car and lorry

A 78-year-old woman has died in a collision between a car and a lorry in north Cork on Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened on the Cork to Kanturk road at around noon.

The 78-year-old who was travelling in the car was pronounced dead at the scene. A second woman in the car was uninjured.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

The road is closed at the crash site to allow for a forensic investigation and gardai are appealing for witnesses.
