Ireland’s newest lottery millionaire has won €12.8 million on a Euromillions ticket following the latest draw last night.

The lucky winner, or winners, will share the €25.6 million jackpot with a player in Spain, leaving each winner with a sum of €12,801,474. The winning numbers drawn last night were 11, 23, 25, 32 and 37 while the lucky star numbers were 4 and 7.

It is not yet known where the ticket was sold as the details of the selling agent have not yet been released.

There was also one winning ticket sold in the south of the country for last night’s Euromillions Plus top prize of €500,000.

The National Lotteryhas advised the winner to immediately sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place.

This is the second time in less than three months that a winning ticket was sold in Ireland. In June, a €93.9 million Euromillions winning ticket was sold at a Mace shop in Beaumont on Dublin’s northside. The winner became the 96th richest person in Ireland, sharing the total jackpot of more than €187 million from that draw with a player in Belgium.

The National Lottery said it generated €4.9 million for “good causes in Ireland”. It is not known whether the winner, who claimed their prize in June at the National Lottery offices in Dublin, selected the numbers or whether it was a Lotto Quickpick. At the time of the win, the National Lottery spokeswoman Eleanor Murphy said the jackpot was the second biggest in their history and the winner wanted to remain anonymous.

Since Euromillions launched in 2004, there have been five jackpot wins in the Republic. Dolores McNamara holds the record for the largest ever win, which came in at over €115 million in 2005. In July 2008, a €15 million winning ticket was sold in Carrick-on-Suir, Co Tipperary, while a €29.4 million jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Dublin in June 2009.

Euromillions is played in nine countries – Austria, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. Just over 30 cent of every euro spent on the Euromillions game goes to good causes across Ireland.
