Feis Maitiú continued a tradition of more than 100 years of celebrating youth drama with this year's festival at the Mill Theatre in Dundrum, Dublin.

The “Fr Mathew” was a cultural fixture in its original home in the Fr Mathew Hall in Church Street, Dublin, up to 12 years ago, when the theatre was closed.

Feis Maitiú was founded by the Capuchins more than 100 years ago and has gained a new lease of life with its move to the Mill Theatre. The Feis embraces drama, improvisation, storytelling, verse speaking, mime and Shakespeare recital; and allows performers to present their work before adjudicators who assess, encourage and inspire young actors.

Cup and bursary winners for 2016 were: Mathew Price (Joan Cuthbert Shakespeare Cup); Eibhin Linehan (Lily Kavanagh Comedy Cup); Shaun McNevin (Sean O’Casey Cup); Sophie Donnelly (Ena Mary Burke Cup); Michael Lucey (Junior Shakespeare Cup); Daire Farrelly (Senior Shakespeare Cup); Sophie Burchael-Connell (Padraig Pearse Cup); Daniel Bisset (Brendan Kennelly Cup); Aoife Kavanagh (Apprentice Shakespeare Cup); and Daire Farrelly (Fr Father Leonard Coughlan Record Championship Cup).
