Five people hospitalised following crash in Waterford

Five people were hospitalised following a crash involving two cars in Co Waterford on Sunday afternoon, with four of the individuals in a serious condition.

Emergency services attended the collision on the N25 road near Ballyduff East in Kilmeaden, Co Waterford, shortly after 4pm.

A woman in her 40s, who was driving one of the cars, was taken to Waterford University Hospital, where she was described as being in a serious but stable condition. A teenage boy who was a passenger in her car was also taken to hospital, with his injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

There was three people in the second car involved in the collision, who also all required hospitalisation.

The driver, a man in his 70s, and two passengers in their 50s, a man and a woman, were rushed to hospitals in Cork and Waterford.

All three were described as being in a serious but stable condition.

The Waterford road is closed off with local diversions in place while a technical examination of the scene of the collision takes place.

A Garda spokesman appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact investigating gardaí, or anyone who may have camera or dash cam footage of the incident.

“Anyone with information can contact Tramore Garda station at 051 391 620, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station,” he said.
