Five people rescued from sinking speed boat off Cork coast

Four adults and one child were on board the speed boat when it began taking in water

Five people were rescued from a sinking speed boat off the west Cork cost by RNLI volunteers just before 7pm on Monday evening.

The Courtmacsherry lifeboat was called after the boat got into difficulty and started talking in water in Courtmacsherry Bay.

The four adults and one child on board the 22-foot stricken speedboat were brought aboard the RNLI lifeboat. Rescue volunteers then boarded the speed boat and began pumping out water.

The speed boat was towed back to Courtmacsherry Pier.
