Galway teenager severely injured in fall from balcony

A teenager was severely injured in Galway after a fall from a third floor balcony.

The incident happened at the Dun na Coiribe apartment complex on the Headford Road in Galway city late on Wednesday night. The area is largely populated by students attending NUI Galway.

The 19-year-old apparently fell from the balcony at about 11pm and no foul play is suspected.

He sustained severe injuries. An ambulance and gardaí rushed to the scene and the man was transferred to University College Hospital in Galway.

Following an initial assessment he was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
