A farmer who died in an incident in Wexford has been named as John Pollard.

Mr Pollard (42) was found inside a detergent tank in a milking parlour on a farm in Ballywilliam, Co Wexford, on Saturday.

He apparently became trapped in the tank, the Health and Safety Authority said.

A spokesman for the authority said they sent investigators to the scene and are awaiting the results of a postmortem to determine the cause of death.

A Garda spokesman said the incident is being investigated but is not believed to be suspicious.

The death is the second farm fatality this year, following the death of Johnny Ryan of Clara, Co Kilkenny.
