One man dies and seven other people injured in two car crash at Ballybannon yesterday

A postmortem will take place today at Waterford University Hospital on a man who died in a two car crash at Ballybannon, Co Carlow.

The 42-year-old man was killed in the crash which happened on the Old Bagnelstown-Carlow road at 5pm yesterday evening.

Seven other people were injured in the crash. Two men, aged 33 and 36, were air lifted to Waterford University Hospital.

A 12-year-old boy, a 33-year-old man and three women aged 46, 50 and 80 were taken to Saint Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny.

Three of the seven are described as being in a serious condition. One man, aged 46, was uninjured.

The road was closed to facilitate garda forensic collision investigators but has since reopened.
