Gardaí investigating the sudden disappearance of a woman missing from her home in Youghal in East Cork since March have concluded a search of a house in the town.

Officers said they are not disclosing the results of a search of the house for operational reasons as they investigate the disappearance of married 45-year-old Tina Satchwell.

Ms Satchwell, a native of Fermoy in North Cork, has been missing from her home on Grattan Street in Youghal since March 20th.

Gardaí are concerned for her welfare.

She was reported missing by her husband, Richard on March 24th and gardaí began an investigation including checking on bank accounts which revealed no activity since she left home.

Ms Satchwell left her mobile phone behind when she disappeared and gardaí have begun examining the phone in the hope it might reveal some clues as to where she went or why she left home.

Gardai also harvested CCTV footage from a number of business premises around Youghal at the time of her disappearance in March but it has yielded no sightings of Ms Satchwell.

Gardaí also believe Ms Satchwell does not have a passport which would limit her ability to travel outside of Ireland and privately they admit they are perplexed by her disappearance.

Yesterday, a team of three Garda technical experts spent a full 12 hours carrying out a forensic examination of a house in the town in the hope it might shed light on Ms Satchwell’s disappearance.

Gardaí said Ms Satchwell has no history of going missing from home even for short periods and they have described her disappearance as “out of character”.

Ms Satchwell moved with her husband from Fermoy to Youghal around two years ago. She is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, of medium build with blonde shoulder length hair and blue eyes.

Gardaí have asked anyone who may have seen Ms Satchwell or have information that can assist them to contact Midleton Garda station on (021) 4621550 or the Garda Confidential line 1800 666 111.
