Gardaí are appealing for help from the public to identify a man found dead in Co Meath three decades ago.
The man, believed to have been between 45 and 55 years of age, has never been identified, despite extensive efforts. He was found dead in Bracetown, Co Meath, on April 18th, 1991.
On Monday, gardaí circulated a sketch of the man at the time of his death, in an attempt to locate a relative, or someone who knew him.
Gardaí said the man was 5ft 5in (1.65m), of medium build, with brown eyes and light brown hair, which was grey on the sides.
Inquiries established the man may have been sleeping rough in the Bracetown area for up to a week before he was found dead.
"Gardaí believe a family member or childhood connection may have brought him to the area," a Garda spokeswoman said.
It is thought he may have been from Ireland or Britain.
The Garda inquiry is not a criminal investigation, and its sole purpose is to identify the man, so his relatives can be traced and informed of his death.
A review of the case was conducted earlier this year, with the man’s body being exhumed from a cemetery in Navan in August.
Following further examination of the body it was established the man may have walked with a limp, due to a problem with his right knee, gardaí said.
Gardaí have appealed to anyone who recognises the man from the sketch, or has any information, to contact Trim Garda station on 046 9481540, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
