Girl (6) rescued in Donegal after floating out to sea on lilo

Rescue 118 helicopter was alerted and rushed to the scene to help the girl and her uncle

A young girl was rescued off the coast of Co Donegal after floating out to sea in a lilo.

The six year old girl had got into difficulty at Port Arthur Strand off Gaoth Dobhair around 4pm on Saturday afternoon.

Her uncle had rushed to her aid but he too had got into difficulty.

The Rescue 118 helicopter was alerted and rushed to the scene to help the girl and her uncle.

Paramedics attended to her and she did not require hospital treatment.

The Bunbeg Coastguard volunteers along the the RNLI lifeboat from Arranmore were tasked to the scene of the girl.

In a separate incident, two kayakers were also rescued when they got into difficulty off Inis Meáin, while another kayaker was brought to shore at An Bun Beag in Gaoth Dobhair.

None of those needed rescued needed hospital treatment.
