Households have until midnight to fill out their census forms. By law everybody in the State must be included in the census.

The public must register where they are on Sunday night though they will not necessarily be counted as residents of that area.

The Central Statistics Office said those who stay overnight in Dublin following the National League finals would be recorded as doing so but would not be listed as Dubliners. Those who stay with family in Dublin will be recorded as visitors, while those in hotels will fill in a form that will also record their home address.

Census enumerators were working up until midnight to ensure that every household got a form.

“If you are yet to receive a census form, or if it has accidently gone into the recycling bin, please get in touch with the CSO and we will arrange for a form to be delivered to you,” a CSO spokeswoman said.

Filling in the census form is a legal obligation and those who refuse may be fined up to €25,000.

Forms will be collected by enumerators in the next two or three weeks.

There is a helpline at LoCall 1850201604 if you require assistance with any question on the form.
