A five-year-old boy from Ireland has died in Portugal following a weekend quad bike crash, local media has reported.
A six-year-old Portuguese boy was also killed in the incident and the Irish child's seven-year-old brother remains in intensive care at the Coimbra Hospital and Universitary Centre some 200km north of Lisbon.
According to reports, the children were passengers on a quad bike being driven by an English man in his early 50s.
The bike left the road and crashed on Friday night in the town of Casal Novo, Penal. The children suffered severe head injuries after being thrown from the quad bike.
The Portugese child died at the scene and the two Irish children were transferred to a local hospital where the younger one died on Sunday.
The other child is said to be in a a stable condtion and remains in intensive care.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said she was aware of the reports but that no requests for consular assistance had yet been received.
