The Department of Foreign Affairs has confirmed it is offering consular assistance to the family of an Irish man killed in Singapore earlier this week.

Donough Keane, originally from Dungarvan, Co Waterford, died on Tuesday when the taxi he was travelling in was involved in a crash.

The 41-year-old was travelling home from Changi airport after a long weekend in Japan with friends .

Originally from Co Waterford, Mr Keane lived in Australia for a number of years before moving to Singapore where he worked as a director with the Asian communications group Singtel.

He was a former graduate of the University of Limerick where he studied electronic engineering.
