The M1 southbound was closed this morning and diversions put in place after a truck on the motorway went on fire. One of the lanes has since re-opened.

Three units of Dundalk fire brigade are still at the scene assessing the safety of the area. There are no reports of injuries.

The truck is in the hard shoulder between junction 20 Jonesborough and junction 19 Ravensdale, the AA said.

One of the lanes on the M1 southbound re-opened following the incident while emergency services continue to assess the situation before opening the rest of the southbound motorway.
