A 23-year-old man died on Saturday during the SSE Airtricity Dublin half-marathon in the Phoenix Park.
In a statement on Facebook, organisers of the event expressed their condolences to the young runner's family and friends.
They thanked the St John’s Ambulance medical team and all those who looked after the young man and appealed for privacy for his family.
With great regret we must confirm that a 23yr old man passed away at today's race. We ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time

The half-marathon, which started at 10am, is 21.1kms.
