Man (23) in critical condition after canal incident on All Ireland final day

Gardaí appeal for witnesses after man ‘got into difficulty in canal’ at Portobello Harbour

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to an incident at Portobello Harbour in Dublin 8 on Sunday morning where a 23-year old man "got into difficulty in the canal".

The man was taken to St James Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

He had travelled from Galway to Dublin to attend the All Ireland Hurling Final but had been separated from his friends when the incident occurred.

A man and a woman who came to his assistance are have been encouraged to contact Kevin Street Garda Station.
