Man crushed to death in steel factory in Drogheda

Heath and Safety Authority investigating after worker believed to have died in kiln

A man in his late 40s has died following an incident at the Premier Periclase plant in Drogheda, Co Louth at around 4pm this afternoon.

The man is believed to suffered crush injuries in a kiln. The company produces magnesia for use in the steel industry.

His remains have been brought to the morgue at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a post mortem will be carried out tomorrow.

The Health and Safety Authority have launched an investigation and a Garda spokesman confirmed gardai will prepare a file for the coroner.
