A man was fatally injured on Wednesday afternoon when he became trapped between two vehicles at a dismantler’s yard in Co Galway.
The man, who was in his 50s, was working in the yard at Cahermorris, Corrandulla, which is near Tuam, when the incident occurred.
An ambulance was on the scene within minutes and paramedics treated the man for his injuries on site but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
His remains were removed to University College Hospital in Galway where a postmortem is expected to be carried out on Thursday.
Two investigations have commenced into the circumstances of his death with gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority preparing reports on the incident.
The scene was preserved to allow forensic officers carried out a detailed examination.
An inquest is expected to be held at a later date.
