Green Isle foods confirm death ‘with deep regret’ as two investigations get under way

Gardaí and safety officials are investigating the death of a man in a workplace accident in Co Kildare.

The man, who was in his early 40s, died in the incident at about 8.30pm on Thursday at Green Isle Foods on the Monread Road in Naas.

He was taken to Naas General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The circumstances are not yet clear but it is understood there was a full night shift operating at the premises at the time.

Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority are conducting separate investigations.

Green Isle Foods confirmed the fatality “with deep regret”.

“The accident which occurred last night has resulted in the tragic loss of one of our colleagues,” a statement said.

“Management and staff at Green Isle Foods wish to express their deepest sympathies to the family and offer their full support at this very difficult time.”

The company said it was co-operating fully with the relevant authorities as they conduct their investigations into the tragic incident.
